Dry needling

With the needle into the center

Dry needling has been used since the late 1970s and was first described by the Czech physician Dr. Lewit.

The aim is to hit the exact center of a myofascial trigger point with an acupuncture needle. The trigger point is a localized, pain-sensitive muscle hardening and can be felt as a rubbery structure. When the trigger point is hit precisely, a typical local twitch reaction occurs (local twich phenomenon). The aim is to inactivate the trigger points through the targeted placement of acupuncture needles.

Dry needling can be performed on its own or combined with other fascial methods and osteopathic techniques.
